Employer questions
Are your workers employees or 1099 contractors?
Employees. Every worker on a client site is a W-2 employee of Fieldcraft Workforce, covered by workers’ compensation and employers liability. We do not place 1099 contractors on client sites; your MSA, prequalification network and insurance carrier all assume employees, and so do we.
What insurance do you carry?
Workers’ compensation (statutory) and employers liability at $1M, general liability at $1M/$2M with no action-over exclusion, a $5M umbrella ($10M available), hired and non-owned auto at $1M, crime and cyber. Additional-insured, primary and non-contributory and waiver-of-subrogation endorsements are issued on request. Contractors pollution liability is added where a site requires it.
Are you on ISNetworld, Avetta or Veriforce?
Yes. We maintain accounts on all three with written safety programs, OSHA 300/300A logs, TRIR/DART and an EMR letter. Tell us which network and which hiring client and we will connect within the platform.
How fast can you mobilize?
Five to ten days for most trades once the rate sheet is signed, faster where we already have crews demobilizing nearby. Nuclear and TWIC-restricted sites take longer because of access processing.
How do you price?
Bill rate plus straight-through per diem, overtime at 1.5× the straight-time bill rate, and mobilization at cost. Rate sheets itemize wage, burden and margin. A 2% quick-pay discount is available for weekly settlement.
Who supplies PPE?
We issue baseline PPE (hard hat, eye and hearing protection, gloves, hi-vis) and verify footwear. Task-specific gear such as fall-arrest sets, arc-flash CAT 4 suits, FR clothing and gas monitors is agreed with the site in the MSA; some sites prefer to issue their own inspected equipment.
Can you work inside our VMS?
Yes. We submit candidates and hours in SAP Fieldglass, Beeline, Magnit or Coupa where a program exists, and in our own portal otherwise.
Do you place in Canada?
Yes, with Canadian-resident journeypersons. Cross-border movement of trades workers requires an LMIA in Canada and an H-2B visa in the US, neither of which suits project timelines, so we build Canadian crews from Canadian Red Seal talent.
For tradespeople
Worker questions
How is per diem paid?
Separately from wages, shown on every pay stub, and under an accountable plan so it is tax-free when you qualify: generally 50 or more miles from your tax home on an assignment expected to last under a year. Per diem amounts are on every job posting.
When do I get paid?
Every Friday for the previous week, with earned-wage access between paydays at no fee from us.
Will I be a W-2 employee?
Yes. You are employed by Fieldcraft Workforce, covered by workers’ compensation, paid overtime at 1.5× after 40 hours, and eligible for our benefits and referral programs.
Do I have to pay for training?
No. Where we fund a course such as GWO BST, NFPA 70E or NETA Level 2, you earn a retention bonus after 1,000 billed hours. We do not use training repayment clawbacks.
What PPE do I need to bring?
Your own safety-toe boots and, if you wear them, prescription safety glasses. We issue the rest of the baseline kit. Site-specific equipment is supplied by us or the site and never charged to you.
How do you verify my tickets?
Against the issuing registry: NCCER, AWS, GWO WINDA, state licence boards, Skilled Trades Ontario, Alberta Tradesecrets. It usually takes under 24 hours. Drug screens and background checks are run only for a specific job, with your written authorization, under FCRA.
What happens when my job ends?
We start planning your next assignment three weeks before demobilization using the outage, turnaround and campus calendars. Tell your recruiter where you are willing to go and we work to keep the gap to days.
How does the referral bonus work?
Refer a tradesperson with the tickets we list. You receive $500 after they complete 30 days and $1,000 more at 90 days, paid through your regular weekly payroll. There is no cap.
